So I moved to Oregon instead.
That’s where I landed a sweet job with a global technology company. It started out innocent enough, a 6-month contract to initially develop UI designs for new web applications. 6-months grew into 8 months as I designed and developed intranet sites powering over 70% of the company! Months rolled into years, and I the next thing I know I’m helping create a media communications group.
You see, my degree is in media communications, and I figured a diverse background in graphic design, web & UI design, photography, and video production was key to building my tropical media empire.
Apparently, all that experience worked out pretty well. Instead of creating a tropical version of Liquid or Fine. I rose through the ranks of this tech company as a Media Communications Specialist, Video Producer, Creative Producer, Art Director, Mentor and eventually co-creator of Intel’s in-house photo unit, now part of their award-winning Agency Inside; managing and shooting product, as well as lifestyle and social media campaign photography.
I guess for me, I’m always happiest wearing many hats, working with a great team of people and getting my hands dirty. That’s why I’m always on the lookout for another island.
